Gender pay gap rules in detail

The National Policy for the Promotion of Gender Equality provided a measure between 2011 and 2015 to address the gender pay gap: employers that are legal entities are required to provide annual reports to the Croatian Bureau of Statistics on the average remuneration by category of employee or position, broken down on a gender basis. The purpose of the reports is statistical monitoring, and the findings are published in an annual report entitled "Men and Women in Croatia".

However, the results of the report do not in themselves give employees grounds to make a claim. There are no criminal penalties for failure to provide annual reports to the Bureau of Statistics.
