Selection order for dismissals and layoffs in detail

In respect of individual or collective dismissal for economic reasons, the employer cannot randomly select employees. The employer must instead follow a ‘last in, first out’ system in relation to the class of employees affected. This is defined as those performing the same or similar work or those who belong to the same category of workers under a collective agreement.
