The rules on severance pay in detail

There is no statutory requirement to pay severance in New Zealand. Any formula for the calculation of a severance payment for redundancy must be included in the employment contract of the affected employee. 

An employee who is terminated is only entitled by statute to payment for annual holidays accrued but not taken.
