The rules on severance pay in detail
Kazakhstani law does not contain the concept of severance pay. However, the employer must make full settlement with dismissed employees within three working days of the date of termination. In addition to payment for hours worked (including overtime, work on holidays, night work, etc.) statutory compensation must be paid for:
- the loss of a job, of one average month’s salary (this is not deemed to be severance pay); and
- unused leave.
If any additional pay is provided for in the employment contract or internal corporate rules, this must be paid at the same time as the payments described above.
