National minimum wage in detail

The statutory gross minimum monthly wage for full time work for the period from 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019 is EUR 886.63. Additional payments for night work, Sunday work, work on holidays and work-free days are not included in the minimum monthly wage. Also not included are the holiday allowance and reimbursements for work related expenses. An employee working part time is entitled to a pro rata payment of the gross minimum monthly wage.

The minimum wage is revised once a year based on the consumer price index. The amount of the gross minimum wage is determined by the Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs after consultation with the social partners and is published on 31 January at the latest. There are no pay gradations with respect to the minimum wage. On 1 January 2020 the definition of the minimum monthly wage (what it includes and what it does not) will be changed, and on 1 January 2021 the calculation of the minimum wage will be changed.
